Puppet Museum Palermo
On the specific topic that is curious object, we could not pass on this blog the opportunity to mention the Museum of Palermo puppets, known by its full name in Italian as the Museo Internazionale delle Marionette Antonio Pasqualino.
Founded in 1975 with the aim of preserving the folk traditions, now houses a collection of 3500 pieces from all over the world. Also known for its library Giuseppe Leggio, which has about three thousand books on the theater and the concrete form of puppetry.
The founder of the center, which takes its name, was a real archaeologist and scholar of Italian folk traditions. Besides visiting the library, the Museum organizes guided tours with puppets or video projection theoretical and practical seminars, giving it a distinctly didactic. Read the rest of this entry »
